This museum showcases the history of the Smiddy family and their significance in the local community, with exhibits featuring artifacts, documents, and photographs that highlight their contributions to the area's industrial and cultural heritage.
Unfortunately it was closed today (01/08/20) I guess because of Covid but there was no information outside the building. So maybe worth a call before you try and visit. It is also on route to the ferry crossing so convenient for a stop before you leave Orkney.
Lovely little museum. Fascinating to see all the tools and equipment that were used here and left when it closed. Well worth a visit!
A collection of artifacts in an ex blacksmiths workshop with some context and explanation.
Pretty good but small which is nice, I gave the man a pound . Nice view of the water 10/10
Very small specialised museum. Lots of local information and photos. Enthusiastic staff member. It's free so worth a look if you are in the area.
Interesting to see the cramped work space and what they managed within it. Good photographs
Restaurant
Good for kids
