The Stoney Man is a 12-meter-tall (40 ft) wooden sculpture of a standing figure, situated in the hills of the Scottish Borders. The sculpture is made from 156 oak trees and weighs over 500 tons. It was designed by artist Andy Goldsworthy and took 6 months to construct. The figure appears to be emerging from the landscape, blending seamlessly into the surrounding hills. The Stoney Man is a striking and thought-provoking piece of land art that has become a popular tourist attraction in the region.

Great little stroll from the car park to this site. There are boardwalk for almost all of this trek but some parts you're on the bog so would recommend a pair of hiking boots if there has been rain.
I took a Sunday morning hike to the Stoneyman twice recently ,Jan/Feb, on a sunny day the views to far off counties are absolutely massive, I found a dull overcast day just as enjoyable, something about the air & peaceful atmosphere up there, it's short of a hours trek from the carpark at the Rosenallis end of the Cappard ridge, timber boardwalk mostly for the first half then it's time to pick your steps, with good hiking boots & a woolly cap its nothing short of an enjoyable hike. The Stoneyman is also accessible from the Monicknew carpark on the Mountrath side, I hope to be enjoying that walk some morning soon ,,
Fantastic spot worth for walk and visit
Short walk across open bog and board walk from the Ridge of Capard view point. Part if the Slieve Bloom way
Nice sunny day , from car park 3.5 km. Half way made from timbers
