The Story Museum is a most unusual museum in the heart of Oxford celebrating the power of stories to teach and delight. Our gallery and activity spaces encourage visitors of all ages to lose themselves in their imagination. Highlights include a Whispering Wood, an Enchanted Library and Small Worlds, a dedicated space for younger children. With the Woodshed, a 100-seat theatre, the Magic Common Room, a learning studio inspired by Hogwarts, and the Treasure Chamber, a temporary exhibition space, the Museum also offers a full programme of events including family storytelling shows, clubs, courses, workshops and schools sessions. Please visit our website for more information and details of museum/shop/cafe opening hours.
A fabulous experience with many interactive exhibits that get you into the world of stories. I went for my 31st birthday and myself and my group had a wonderful time. Most notable was the people working there - everyone had such passion and dedication, you could see how much they loved the place and that was delightful to see. Would absolutely recommend to any age group or interest - even my IT maths dad loved it! The cafe was also very good, and the shop was lovely. Only reason it is a 9/10 and not 10/10 is because I couldn't make an account on the website to book tickets or make a donation, but we were able to make it work through someone else.
Took my 3 grandchildren aged 5,6 and 8 . They all loved this place and didn't want to leave. The story teller kept the children enthralled. Favourite room was through the wardrobe into Narnia. Lovely cafe with well priced mainly local produce. All the staff were amazing and interacted with the children making their day special. Book in advance to guarantee entry at busy times.
Took my grandson to little wonders world He had a great time you have a story then het to play for 45 mins then and another story and a goodbye song
Very quiet when we came on a bank holiday. We came with children aged 5 who enjoyed themselves but did find the first part slightly boring. They enjoyed the dragon part and the more immersive bits. Unfortunately the water wasn't working st all at the sinks in the toilets which meant you couldn't wash your hands so that does really need fixing.
It was awesome! Visited with 3 kids (4, 6 and 8 y.o.), only the eldest one can read and understands English quite well, but everyone enjoyed. Very helpful staff, nice cafe with gluten-free options and toys. The site glitched, when we tried booking the tickets, the price inside museum is the same.
It's for children. A wonderful fairy tale house with the atmospheres of world famous children's stories. There are also special events at certain times of the week. There is a sweet cozy cafe just below
