A visit to Glenlee takes you back in time to experience what life was like on the high seas. Visit the galley, ring the bell, and explore the depths of the ship. Where did she sail? What cargo was transported around the globe? What was it like to command a ship in mid-ocean? Experience a fun and exciting day out, and discover what life was really like aboard a tall ship. Restored to her former glory, Glenlee is one of only five Clydebuilt steel sailing ship still afloat, and the only example in the UK. The Tall Ship Glenlee is an independent museum, dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of Glenlee and the maritime history of the area for the benefit of the local community and visitors to Glasgow.
I really loved this place! The ship itself was interesting but the best was the transport museum. A wonderful place to bring the kids. A few great seating places to relax. The staff were super helpful. The cute little restaurant on the first floor was pleasantly very good. Great homemade soups, sandwiches and cakes. The service was fabulous. I really enjoyed this place and I would definitely recommend it. The place was free. But, a donation is appreciated. Which I had no problem giving.
Absolutely loved exploring deeper into the unseen crevices and creaks. Although the floorboards in their probably weakened condition make me feel pretty anxious. The smells take me back to my childhood, but that's just the smell of Elizabethan/Medieval era dust. Got to see everything of Glenlee in her glory. I wish I could've explored more.
Took the grandkids for a tour and they enjoyed every minute. The did the Find the 20 Rats competition. It was busy but manageable with all the different languages of the tourists.
We came for a late night candle light concert. Good ol' ship docked right beside the museum. Worth visiting in the afternoon when the breeze isn't trying to fight with you. Hope they get to maintain the ship for long!
Sam & I were married on the tall ship this month, amazing venue!! The staff went above and beyond to help us with everything!! We would highly recommend this beautiful ship as a wedding venue xx
We visited from South Africa with our children, 6 & 9. This was a fascinating experience. It was interesting to see the living space and the opulence of the captains quarters in comparison. We were surprised at the size of the hold. Well worth the visit. It is free but we definitely encourage you to give a donation at one of the available donation points.
