A rugged and scenic hill in the North York Moors National Park, featuring a distinctive rocky outcrop at its summit, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding moorland and valleys.
Absolutely stunning views - steep trek to get there - I parked at the clay bank car park and did a 15km walk around the moors afterwards - I'd imagine it's very slippy in the wet so boots a must.
Marvellous, worth exploring. Pro tip: walk through the forest path below in one direction so you make it a circular walk.
Loved the walk and the views , walked up from the clay bank path a bit steep but fine , all the better for finding room to park for free beside the main road
Beautiful views over the very under rated teesside. What a beautiful place for a walk.
Incredible rock formations, overlooking extensive views. It was overcast even I visited and I could still see to Roseberry Topping and Middlesbrough, on a clear day I'm sure the views would be even better. Walked from Clay Bank Parking, which started with a steep climb on the footpath leading up the hill, but once at the top, it was an easy walk to the Wainstones. Heading west on the Cleveland Way, the rocks are hidden in a dip until you're quite close, but don't give up, they're amazing once you get there! Great place for walkers and climbers.
Highly recommend, gorgous scenery, the trek up the mountain is rather tiring. We took the easy route up across, rather than straight up as strong legs are advised and some of us weren't ready for such a workout lol. But when you see the top and you're looking down, you see Guisborough, Middlesbrough, Seaton Carew and a number of small villages, including Rosberry Topping from the distance. Such a sight and the weather was perfect, sunny weather. It's a bit of a drive to get there, but there is parking at the bottom. Definately recommend.
