This 10-mile former railway line turned walking and cycling path stretches from East Durham to Consett, offering scenic views of the countryside, woodlands, and rolling hills.
We travelled to this car park from our holiday home at Stanhope. Nice quiet scenic drive to the car park. The car park access is very uneven for cars / campers / motorhomes, but a slow speed should see you right. Lots of woolly backs just grazing and Baaa-ing whilst I took some pics. The car park would be nice for a night stop-over (ex motorhomer) and a bit of star gazing. Unfortunately, the access down to the reservoir was blocked by a barrier. Not a problem for mobile people but a hindrance for people with mobility issues.
Absolute beautiful place. Amazing walks and lovely scenery
Walked the circular path from the car park to the reservoir and back. Liked it so much we carried on toward Lanchester. Absolutely wonderful wild British country side. Red kites, linnets, curlews, sky larks, lap wings and red grouse, how delightful. There are limited parking places at the car park.
Lovely car park with views over vast areas of heather moorland and extending into Northumberland Chevrolet hills in the far distance
Lovely views, great walks and plenty of wildlife...
First time here. It's certainly lovely but because it's so open the wind was bitterly cold. We done a short walk and headed back to the car. Will definitely be going back for a longer walk, just maybe when it heats up a bit.
