Located just seven miles from the ancient city of Winchester, you can join the line at the picturesque Georgian town of Alresford or at the bustling market town of Alton. Fares give you all day travel, so you can visit all four heritage stations with period charm as well as these historic towns.
Was booked on a coach trip to visit this place and have a Cream Tea.Lovely trip on the train to Alton and back with a cream tea ,2 large scones,clotted cream and a lovely cup of tea.The carriage was reserved for the group.The railway staff were friendly and helpful and all the stations were clean and tidy.A set of steps were provided to get off the carriage and held by a lovely lady. I grew up with this railway with my late Father and remember when we did a sponsored walk to get it up and running to the next station.Lovely memories.Thank you for a lovely trip on your train.
A lovely experience. Friendly staff & volunteer workers who truly enjoy their work. Trains were superb. Felt like a kid going on an outing. Love the stations. So clean & authentic like one was going back in time. Totally recommend it & may go again!
We had a fabulous day. A beautiful senic heritage railway lovingly restored with a great fleet of engines and rolling stock. The highlight though is the passion of the volunteers who run the railway with kindness and enthusiasm.
A fabulous day trip in the Hampshire countryside, with magnificent views and cheerful service from the crew. Take time to explore New Alresford and pack a picnic to have at Ropley. We also enjoyed the Real Ale Train excursion in the evening, with a good selection of locally brewed beer and cider, and a choice of burgers or curry to purchase onboard.
