The West Hill Lift is a historic funicular railway located in Hastings, East Sussex, England. It connects the town center to the Hastings Castle and the West Hill, offering stunning views of the town and the English Channel. The lift has two cars that counterbalance each other, with one ascending while the other descends, and operates on a cable-hauled system. The West Hill Lift is a popular tourist attraction and a convenient way to access the castle and the surrounding hills, while also providing a unique and panoramic view of the town.
Great view of Hastings from the top of the life really old think the guy said 120 years old fantastic
Quick and interesting ride up to West Cliff. Unfortunately the cafe on top (and toilet) were closed, but definitely worth it for the view and a breezy walk!
Although the cafe at the top is closed you still get nice views and it saves your legs - particularly if you had to climb East Hill on foot while that lift is under repair! The top of this hill also has Smugglers Adventure and Hastings Castle.
The West Hill Lift was both a unique historical spot as well as a great convenience. The lift was super quick and brings you right to the top of a very steep hill without a hassle, where you can have the most beautiful view of Hastings Old Town and the sea. It's also a much easier option if visiting the castle.
Enjoyable ride up and down the hill. Definitely worth it for the views at the top!
Slightly expensive for what it is, but the lovely view from the top and the funicular carriage is authentic and super old, which i found pretty cool. Unfortunately, the cafe was closed on top so we had a picnic instead. No large queues on bank holiday Monday.
Wheelchair-accessible car park
Good for kids
