Description
Witney Blanket Hall was built in 1721 by the Company of Blanket Makers. For over 120 years, every blanket woven in the town came to the Hall to be weighed and measured, and upstairs in the Great Room the Company set the Rules for the Trade. In 2015, the Hall reopened its doors to reveal this illustrious past and offer woollen blankets and throws, coffee pies and assemblies, both commercial and cultural. Visitors are always welcome and are invited to come and find out more about the infamous Witney Blankets. The Pie Shop offers its famous pies and platters, as well as tea, coffee and cakes. We are licenced so wine and Blanket Hall Beer are always available.

We received a lovely welcome. The lady was so pleasant and really knew her stuff. We had a reminiscence about Witney Cellular blankets from the 60s. You feel like you've entered a whole new world. The blankets are spectacular. Saving up for one for Christmas. Will visit again and use the cafe and linger longer in the garden. Stunning place!

I visited the cafe at the hall; the experience is lovely. The cafe is in really old building, and has lovely outside space, which backs to the river. Its a great experience for all the senses. The hot drinks and selection of cakes is good. Museum has great photos and display that is a great coonection to thr past of the area.

We visited the blanket hall last week on our trip to England from Canada. I have always been interested in the history of the blankets and the connection to the Hudson's Bay in Canada as well as the classic Earlys of Witney Newmarket horse blanket. We met Sarah who works in the hall and she was so delightful to chat with and a wealth of knowledge of all the history of the weavers and the hall itself. It was truly a highlight of our trip. We ended up purchasing two blankets and 10 scarves for ourselves and souvenirs for family and friends. I would've bought more if I had more room in my luggage! Definitely worth checking out!

Just great. A little bit of calm in a busy world. A hidden gem in Witney. If you just want a cup of tea a cream tea or the full works pie you will not be disappointed. Friendly, helpful and efficient staff.

Everything you could want from a woolen blanket shop. Lots of throws, scarves and picnic blankets all set out in a museum to the Witney woolen trade. Just a pity the pie shop would not take dogs inside. As it was raining we had to give it a miss.
