This 18th-century landscape garden features a stunning collection of trees, flowers, and scenic vistas. The 40-acre property boasts over 3,000 different species of trees, including several national collections, as well as a beautiful walled garden, a rock garden, and a scenic lake walk. Visitors can explore the gardens on their own or take a guided tour to learn more about the history and horticulture of the estate. The arboretum is also home to a variety of wildlife, including birds, insects, and small mammals, making it a haven for nature lovers.
Delightful garden, lakes, woodland, and herbaceous borders, with sculptures dotted around and hiding in secret gardens. Greenhouse and hot houses are also open to view. To finish the afternoon, try the best coffee cake for miles .
Thenford gardens is open 19 days a year and is owned by former MP and Minister Michael heseltine and his wife. Approached down a country lane near Banbury , nothing can prepare you for the wonders within. Visiting on the last open day of the year and a very wet one at that, the garden and arboretum fills your very soul with joy. Wether it was the autumnal colours the wonderful sculptures, the impressive water features, there is something of interest at every turn. It is all so immaculately maintained and you are given the trust and freedom to roam anywhere. There is also a wonderful tea room. All in all , the best garden I have been to and one of the best places as a whole.
The gardens are lovely and beautifully designed. They are spread among the arboretum and there are several lakes and water features. The walled garden is splendid. Tea and excellent cakes at the visitor centre.
Went to the snowdrop spectacular, which was truly spectacular. The place is stunningly beautiful and not too busy. The refreshments were great too, good value and all proceeds going to the church. Would love to return to see the gardens in different seasons.
Absolute delight. Clearly a labour of love on the part of Lord and Lady Heseltine and so kind of them to give the public the occasional opportunity to visit this treasure. Quite probably the best garden we have seen and we have seen a lot!
Lovely gardens, lots to see and plenty of walking! A brilliant snowdrop garden developing and interesting winter garden with lots of plant species
