Chicester Harbour island & former RAF station featuring a shoreline footpath with birdwatching.
The walk around the island is lovely! I would avoid it in the winter though as the trail gets minging and very slippery! There are benches dotted around so it has plenty of places to stop for a picnic. If you time your walk right you can stop at the sailing club for refreshments.
Basically army barracks. We visited with a friend to go to the sailing club. Security very tight. Very desolate place but beautiful all the same
Footpath around the island is closed due to repairs being carried out to the Deep sluice gate. No information I can find online detailing when(if ever) it will reopen.
island for swimming walking and nature. You enter the island via intercom. The island is a breathe of fresh air with sea paths virtually taking you all the way round. It really is a hidden gem with great swimming spots dotted all along at high or mid tide. The wildlife is good to with deer, egrets and owls/ hawks. Theirs also a really nice sandy beach at the far south part of the island and nearby is a bird hide. The eastern part of the island is more estuary like with boats and wading birds.
Amazing. A great place for a walk. A walk around the island is about 8.5 miles and had lots of sea views, wildlife, beaches etc.
The coast line footpath round the island is brilliant for walking or running, it always feels a bit further on ground than when planned on the map! So much variety from the marshes with the birds to the sandy beaches on the south side.
