Scottish baronial mansion grounds holding a gardening school and wildfowl refuge, plus a restaurant.
Absolutely beautiful gardens! We picked a perfect Spring day to visit and the colours of the flowers were stunning. There is an entry fee but free to Scottish National Trust/National Trust members. As you will usually find in a National Trust site, there is a decent cafe and gift shop. Plenty for all ages and there is a play area for younger children. My favourite was the walled garden and the sound of the bees on the poached egg plants, under the fruits trees, was quite loud. Really recommend a visit.
Looking stunning! The walled garden really beautiful. Rows of very healthy fruit and veg and I loved seeing all the houseplants in the green houses. The contemplative garden also worth a quiet sit down in for a long as you can
You can tell it's a national trust property. Well looked after we only did the gardens as we had our dogs. Being disabled was a bit of a challenge on the hills but plenty of seats and we weren't in a hurry. The cafe is large enough to have a dog friendly area, we both had a club sandwich on malt, should have shared one, as we didn't eat for the rest of the day
Enjoyed our time re-visiting Threave Garden. Took a tour round the house on this visit. It was nice, and I'm glad I was an NTS member and didn't have to pay for this visit as I wasn't as impressed with the house as I was with the beautiful gardens. It didn't have the wow factor I was expecting to see. The fireplaces and paintings were small considering the size of the rooms, and there wasn't really too much on display that held your attention. The gardens, however, were just gorgeous. The different plants, trees, and smells were just amazing. Everything is just so pristine, and the plants are labelled if you want to go away and source them for your own garden. The team of gardeners should be congratulated on a stunning job!
What a fabulous place! Took my mum and partner for a walk round the stunning gardens followed by lunch in the superb cafe. The dog friendly grounds are stunning with a variety of plants from rhododendrons and azalea to meconopsis on well tarmacked paths throughout. The staff were friendly and attentive (particularly one of the gardeners we spoke to in the Walled Garden, an American lady who was incredibly knowledgeable and enthusiastic!). After an excellent meal and great coffee we bought a couple of plants too! Thank you and we will be back.
A lovely garden to walk around, great tea shop with freshly made food and ultra dog friendly. The nature reserve had a lovely walk and we saw ospreys and peregrine falcons. We've been twice now, great to see it at different times of the year.
