It is an excellent place to take a walk along the canal for smile or more. There are swans and ducks. There are many houseboat moored there. The canal is serene with a pathway that goes along for miles. We fount a narrow part where we was a narrow boat arrive. We wondered how it would cross since there was a bridge which was very low. The boat person got off and There was a mechanical rotor which raised the draw bridge. We helped him to raise and lower the bridge. Surprisingly he had rowed all the way from Portsmouth, about 150 mile way. There is an entire waterway network in England. It is a way of life for some. It is a beautiful place to go and get the village feel and walk along the canal with fields on bot sides. A must visit when in Oxford, England.
A lovely experience this afternoon. The staff were so helpful and polite, and great with the kids during the safety briefing. We canoed up the canal to the river Cherwell beyond the lock for a picnic. The countryside was beautiful and the conditions easy going for the kids in the boat. Would recommend this place very highly if you are looking for something to do in the area. The cafe, toilets and ice cream at the end + plus easy parking all added to the overall experience.
This year it was our second visit at Thrupp Canoe and Kayak Hire and we always recommend the place to our friends. Staff is friendly and the kayaks are great. We always like paddling down the stationed boats and pass through the locks. It is a quiet, peaceful area, lots of views on both sides of the canal. All the chaps paddling the canal are friendly, never had any unfortunate encounters. Will definitely come back up in spring once the weather warms up again!
My family of six had a great time in two three-person canoes. The gentleman that checked us in was very friendly and everything went smoothly. The area is beautiful and we enjoyed paddling past the narrow boats and taking in the scenery. I would highly suggest grabbing some food at Annie's Tea Room (next door) while you're there.
Have now booked two full day canoeing trips with TCKH. All staff were very friendly and accommodating of our plans and the canoes were in excellent condition. The surrounding area is beautiful and the Thames/Port Meadow can easily be reached via the canal system. Would definitely recommend starting a river adventure from here!
My son and I had a lovely couple of hours in a double Kayak. Online booking was easy, staff friendly and helpful, with good safety briefing and helpful advice. Finished off a the best sausage roll ever from Annie's tea room after. Thank you.
