This 3.5-mile heritage railway runs from Thurcroft to the nearby village of Wentworth, offering a scenic ride through the South Yorkshire countryside. The railway features a collection of vintage locomotives and rolling stock, including steam and diesel trains. Passengers can choose to ride in open-top carriages or enclosed coaches, enjoying the sights and sounds of the rural landscape. Along the route, the train passes through woodland, over bridges, and alongside picturesque villages, providing a relaxing and nostalgic experience.
Great, well surfaced trail that gets us traffic-free between Dinnington and Thurcroft, where we pick up some great bridlepaths, keeping us off road. Most walkers very pleasant and rarely do we come across any dog mess, so most dog walkers very responsible. Would be nice if the overgrown bushes were cut back on the non-tarmac section from the bridge on Steadfolds lane to the old colliery (now a community woodland), but overall a nice trail.
This is also a bridleway. it's a lovely ride, there and back about 6 miles or 3 miles with road ride back.
