A 12th-century medieval fortress situated in Tickhill, South Yorkshire, England, featuring a mix of architectural styles, including Norman, Gothic, and Tudor elements. The castle's stone walls and towers are surrounded by a moat, with a grand hall, chapel, and private chambers showcasing its rich history.
Lovely place but only open to the public once a year.
Lovely place to visit if you're into your history, it is only open 1 day a year so i would mark your calendar and get there early next year as the queue backs up pretty fast.
Only open once a year on second Sunday in June. Lots to see including early Norman gatehouse, motte (sadly not accessible at top), bailey grounds and remaining curtain wall. You can walk around the outside perimeter of the castle. Food and drink is usually on sale too. PS2 for guidebook. Admission charge of PS4 per adult and PS2 for children at time of writing. Cash only. There is an ATM at the fuel station in the village. All in all a great afternoon out.
This castle is only open for 3hrs each year. Tickets only available at the gate, this year it was PS4 per adult and PS2 for children, not sure of age limit but toddlers are free. Don't go for the opening, you'll end up queuing for a while. We arrived about an hour in and walked straight in. You don't need more than an hour to look around but if the weather is good, icecream, drinks and food are available.
Very nice to walk round, PS4 entery fee which you pay in the door The Bailey was off limits as they had a landslide bak in 2020 and where suring up the area. Its only open once a year and for 2 hours There was food and hot drinks you could buy. He house was off limits to the public. Ta privately owned
Only open one afternoon per year. Only the grounds are open, interesting family who own it are friendly, but they got as confused about which Mary stayed their, but Tudor times are very confusing.
Good for kids
