Dinosaurs in Queenstown? Moa, Mosasaur and Tuatara under Lake Wakatipu? Queenstown's only underwater experience takes you on a journey through time and legend beginning many millions of years ago. Head down two flights of stairs under the lake into our underwater theater. A large cinema screen descends and you commence your time travel journey beginning with the beautiful love story and Maori Legend of Lake Wakatipu. Your time travel pilot will guide you back 90 million years, through the time of the dinosaurs, take you to when New Zealand was formed, and fly you deep into the earth. You then experience 10 - 15 minutes of underwater viewing where we feed the famous diving ducks, slinky eels and rainbow & brown trout that lie beneath.
Our kids loved it (10 and 8 years of age). It was nice to learn about the legend. Our kids did find it difficult to see past anyone sitting in front of them (in any seats other than the 1st row). Yet, they enjoyed watching the fish swim around and the ducks feeding with the eels.
AMAZING! My daughter loved learning things in the past. Its totally kid friendly. They have done good job with the story and the setup. Value for money definitely recommend as a family activity.
Went here back in March 2024 and it was really informative. Way better than expected. The video was interesting and the fish and eel feeding after was really cool. The diving ducks were especially awesome. Short but sweet and worth the time.
Excellent and informative short video on the prehistoric origins of Queenstown, with wrap-round screens and vibrating seats. The underwater observatory is wonderful, with enormous trout and ultra-cute deep diving ducks. Terrific value for money right on Queenstown quayside.
A little corny but overall a good historical video of South New Zealand. What happened to the fish feeding? We waited over 5 minutes...nothing.
Far better than expected. Good, cheap rainy day activity for about 30mins. Was educational, but short and entertaining enough to keep everyone engaged. The fish feeding was a bit lackluster but being able to look out at the fish and diving ducks before and after show was interesting.
Good for kids
