This 16th-century former town hall and prison turned museum showcases the history of Glasgow, with exhibits on everything from medieval times to the 20th century, including artifacts, interactive displays, and recreated period rooms.
A lovely little free museum on the ground floor of what was once Dunnottar Castle's grain storage barn, and later became the tolbooth for the town. The museum itself is more of a mishmash of different artefacts and information relating to the area- for the room that they've been given, the volunteers have definitely filled it up well! Not too keen on the creepy dolls though.
Lovely musuem packed full of local history and information inside the oldest building in the town. Free entry, donations welcome. Right by the harbour and well worth a visit
Stonehaven has much to offer the visitor besides Dunnottar Castle. The Toll Both Museum is sweet and they made plenty of effort with the displays. Do go see for yourself. It's free, and currently open only on Saturday and Sunday 12:30 to 15:30. I believe that from April '23 onwards the museum will be open during the week from 1:30pm to 4:30 pm ( please check with the Museum yourself for more accurate details about the exact date thereof :-) I can see that they would welcome a donation although the Museum is absolutely free. Unfortunately I didn't have any coins or notes on my person, otherwise I would have put my change in the . Try to remember taking a couple of coins with you.:-) - you're also likely to run into a real life movie star at the Museum who will tell you a story or two about Stronehaven "back when". A real character. Apologies -I can't remember his name unfortunately. They also play a video in the back about the"Fireball" tradition on New year's. Incorporate it into your trip. It's always nice to be entertained by yesteryears stuff, isn't it? Enjoy your day out.
Looks small from the outside but they have done a great job of cramming in a lot of history, pictures and artifacts telling stories about Stonehaven. It's free entry but good to make a donation although we weren't asked to do so. Worth a visit
