It's the perfect day out for you and your family.
Came here with my walking group to look round and have a drink after our walk. Great location and lovely tea but they do need to have more tables outside, for when we arrived they were all taken and I ended up spilling most of mine down the back of the bench thanks to my poor sight.
Very picturesque and fascinating little castle, you can ask for an audio tour which is included in the price, I feel that the audio equipment could do with updating and come with head phones but overall the tour was interesting to listen to. What's left of the castle inside has been well looked after by the people who run it, and are very helpful and friendly, the grounds offer a lovely walk about on a warm day. Overall a great place to visit!
Tonbridge Castle is a lovely historic site dating back to the 1200s, on the site of an earlier Norman Castle. It's very pleasant for a stroll around or a picnic in front of the main castle. There's a small cafe and toilets and you can pay to go inside where there is an audio-guide tour available. There's a small pay and display car park to the rear but some larger car parks very close by if that's full. The castle sits close to the high street where there are plenty of restaurants and cafes and also right next to the park and playing fields beside the river if you want a longer walk. There's a good children's play area in the park too.
Lovely grounds, did not go in the castle spent all the time outside, but plenty to see
Brilliant day out for the family loads of parking and fabulous play park
The castle grounds are free to enter and walk around. It's a delightful place to visit in any season. There's a cafe and a big grass area and lots of benches and info boards. The gatehouse is intact but the rest of the castle is mostly ruins with a moat. You have to pay to go into the gatehouse and it's not cheap. PS30 for a family ticket. It's on 4 levels and there's a good view from the roof. It's a nice enough place to look around inside but minus 1 star for being overpriced.
