Located in Cornwall, England, Torhouse Stone Circle is a Bronze Age ceremonial monument consisting of 19 granite stones, some of which are over 3 meters tall, arranged in a circular pattern. The stones are spaced unevenly, with the largest stones at the southwest and northeast ends of the circle. The circle is approximately 24 meters in diameter and is surrounded by a low earthwork bank. The site is believed to have been constructed around 2000-1500 BCE and is thought to have been used for ritual and ceremonial purposes.
Small but elegant stone circle. Easy parking yards from the monument. People from all over the world had left offerings.
A beautiful place. Very relaxing just to sit and soak up the atmosphere.
Amazing. Mysterious. If you're interested in Neolithic history and think stone henge has been spoiled by too many visitors then this is the place for you.
A nice place, too bad it's not so much promoted.
Amazing ancient stone circle fully preserved, pictured with 2 old fossils!
Look on a regular travel map and you will find an entry for Torhouse Stone Circles. I had no expectation on a cool moody morning. There is a sign a hundred yards before the site and, upon arriving is a 3-4 space car park. A simple plaque adorns this simple and magnificent series of stones. It's quite amazing to touch stones between 6000 and 4000 years old. There is no queue to pay homage to these stones. They stand quite simply, at one with the land.
Wheelchair-accessible entrance
Good for kids
