Come and explore this wild and tranquil place. Tortworth was once an abandoned arboretum, now lovingly restored by the community to create a space where people & trees thrive. We open to the public on our community events days and for seasonal bushcraft events such as willow weaving, foraging, mushroom identification and more. You'll find details of our events on our website, as well as opportunities to join our volunteer team and weekly wellbeing projects. Contact us at [email protected]
We were part of a private hire group (exclusive use), and camped on site for 2 nights. The roundhouse and camp fire area made the weekend for us; we had pretty dismal weather, but we're able to all gather together to eat and hang out. We were aware that there was no running water or electricity on site, so we're able to come prepared. The compost toilet was fine. Exploring the wider arboretum during sunny spells allowed the children to enjoy some freedom and enjoy the benefits of outdoor play, including finding areas to make into dens and swings to play on. Definitely a place to visit if you want to try a campsite that feels closer to nature.
I love this beautiful place, we were so lucky to found them open. The staff is very kind and helpful. We were grateful for the fire and lovely covered place. Trees, mushrooms and mainly the snowdrops are beautiful. I'll follow their events and I'm sure we'll visit again soon
A lovely woodland, not far from Bristol and perfect for keeping a 1 and 4 year old entertained. Accessible and lots to explore. Seeing the goats and finding fairy doors is always a highlight. Well maintained, with compost loos and it's set up for fires and picnics. Recommend!
My husband and I enjoyed a truly lovely and educational day out at Tortworth Arboretum. The love and attention that has been poured into this place is abundantly evident, and the people who care for it are so kind and knowledgeable. Highly recommend!
