A tranquil and serene natural wonder, Torwood Blue Pool is a picturesque lake nestled in the heart of Scotland. The pool's mesmerizing blue color is a result of the surrounding peat bogs, which leach humic acid into the water, giving it an otherworldly hue. Surrounded by lush greenery and heather-covered moors, the pool is a haven for wildlife, including birds, fish, and insects. Its glassy surface reflects the ever-changing Scottish skies, creating a sense of harmony between nature and the elements.
Great walk even though it was very muddy. Recommend wellies or walking boots. Easy to find by parking near Torwood castle, when the castle is in front of you take a right and go through the silver gate, continue walking and follow the sign for Denovan Rd, follow this path with wooden bridges until you reach the purple ribbon on the fence. Take a right through the stone wall and the blue pool is on your right.
Nice short walk. Not a lot of parking but the walk from Torwood is easy and you can park at the side of the road. The weather was dry when we were there and the path was easily walked. Torwood castle and a ruined Broch are nearby and can be included in the route. The pool is indeed blue! Took about 40 minutes round trip.
Lovely little pool...very clean when we were there....bit of a hike there and its not sign posted so we walked past it..If u go wear hiking boots or wellies...the one foto of the wall and pathway is where the pool is and u need to take this clearing..
Mysterious pool in middle of forest. Good walk along side Torwood Castle and Tappoch Broch
Beautiful. However.. I would not recommend going for a dip in it. Unfortunately, it's not well looked after but it is gorgeous, and it is a lovely little walk to it. Highly recommend going to see the castle and the cows in the fields on your walk to the blue pool too.
Water was nice and cool and looked surprisingly clear highly recommend a visit
