This is a lovely little castle to visit. It's definitely worth stopping off here if you're visiting the Medieval town of Totnes, especially if you're an English Heritage member. There's a steep climb up to the keep (which would be unsuitable for anyone with mobility problems), but the views on a clear day are worth it!

The castle is thought to have been built by one of William the Conquerors commanders, Juhel. Originally a man made earth mound with timber structure the castle had been re-structured using stone. Although this is not a very large site, as some of the reviewers mention, it is very well preserved and you can feel the gravitas of this sights location from the walk along the keep walls. Panoramic views in all directions. Unfortunately this sight would need large investment to make the sight fully accessible by those differently abled, so wheelchair users can only access the bottom part of the sight. It isn't an all day attraction but still way worth the visit and to spark the minds of youngsters.

A small castle for quick visit. Paid parking available at a short walk near the castle - North Street Car Park Totnes. After the visit stroll through the town for several shops, cafes and bakeries. We stopped over at the cornish bakery for some delicious bites as we had enough time left over on parking :)

Small castle worth a visit. Great views of Totnes from the top. Lovely green lawn. Dogs welcome. The man working at the ticket office was knowledgable, chatty and friendly.

Don't expect the walk around inside a castle experience. But views are great and well worth as part of a trip to the town. Guy on the gate was very knowledgeable and friendly

Fantastic place to see the history. Although only the ruins can be seen and nothing is inside, you get a great view of Totnes. You heavy to climb 70 odd steps to reach the top bit it is worth it.
