Family-run museum displaying a private collection of gemstones, crystal & fossils, with a gift shop.
We only visited this place to kill some time as the weather didn't let us to hike. Such a positively turned mistake! This collection is UNBELIEVABLE! Spent nearly two hours and only left because the child wanted to go to eat something. All their staff was helpful and informative too! You MUST visit this place when You are around!
Great little museum with some really impressive specimens. When we paid for our ticket, we were told that we could come back any time using the same ticket for a week. You can't argue with that. Very fair. The gift shop had some interesting items as well! It isn't very big but dedicate worth a visit. Staff were all pleasant and friendly.
My wife and I travelled specifically to here from Paisley via the train. We had not visited for 18 years. The location is close to the train station but there is a good-sized car park too. There are toilets on site with a gift shop, but there is no cafe on site. However, food is available across the street at the nearby shops. If you are interested if natural gemstones, this is the place for you. The main exhibition is housed in a former church building. To show the display cabinets and gem construction off at its best, much of the exhibition is dark. There are no floor obstacles or uneven floors but when walking around, care is required for young and elderly. There is an upper section accessible via stairs at either end. There is no elevator. All exhibits are well displayed and have written information available, too. Staff were hapy to chat and have good knowledge. The shop is well stocked of a range of appropriate items for sale. Your admission ticket is reusable for another occasion.
Amazing collection of stones, minerals and fossils. Some of them are breathtaking. Super friendly staff. You can easily spent an hour or more there. No waiting on weekday, free parking right in front of the exposition.
Lovely little crystal/fossil museum. Lots of great displays and the shop have a great variety of fossils and crystals. Staff are lovely and friendly and will definitely go again.
Lovely little place with an amazing exhibition. I love crystals and minerals so for me it was such an unexpected treat. I got myself a beautiful aqua aura in the gift shop. I recommend it to everyone!
