This museum showcases a diverse collection of art and artifacts that tell the story of the Scottish Borders. The exhibits include works by local artists, artifacts from the region's history, and a recreated Victorian street scene. The museum also features a gallery dedicated to the life and works of Borders-born writer and poet, Thomas Hardy.
This is a great little museum and gallery that punches above its weight. Always something interesting to see. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Here, the route in off Peebles High Street and principal rooms.
If you go to no other museum visit the John Buchan Story museum. I am a big fan of his work so was in heaven. His story is told brilliantly with great exhibits and interesting videos relating various aspects of his life. The museum is run by a dedicated bunch of volunteers who are knowledgeable and enthusiastic. The normal opening hours are spring to autumn but we emailed about a visit in November and a date was agreed, we had a private tour for two, now that is special. There is no entry fee either (donations are welcome) and there is a fantastic range of books, both new and second hand to browse. Just visit and see for yourself.
On holiday locally , really enjoyed the exhibition ( at that time) , featuring someone's solo journey on bike from Peebles area to Cairngorm National Park. This exhibition was one floor down from Library. All Local Authorities should be proud of their libraries. A welcoming location in every community Thank you
Totally free and interesting stuff. Don't bother with the Buchan story but near entrance is 2 quid to stand in a room! Yet the museum bit is free.
Small but fascinating musuem. Packed full of photographs, books, and other artifacts. Well worth a look round, and it's free.
Only 1 large room in the Library but still informative and staff member was friendly.
