A picturesque beach with soft white sand, surrounded by towering sand dunes and pine woodland. The beach is never crowded, providing a peaceful atmosphere, perfect for relaxation and sunbathing. The woodland offers scenic walks and opportunities to spot local wildlife, such as red squirrels and birds. The area is also rich in history, with ancient monuments and historic sites nearby.
This is a varied trail which has woodland, beach and salt marsh. This walk can be extended by walking along the fantastic beach towards the Bass Rock or shortened by doing only one or two of the loops. The walk is relatively easy as there are no hills to climb. In winter the trails can be muddy and very cold, especially on the exposed coast part of the walk. In spring to autumn the walk is very pleasant, with much to see. There is a lot of wildlife, deer, pheasant, swans, grey squirrels in the woods and sea birds like Oyster Catchers, terns, curlews, sandpipers to name but a few of the coastal birds. Occasionally other wildlife like seals can be found. This walk is ideal for dog walkers. The walk also follows along concrete blocks which were part of WW2 defences. Parking is limited and summer weather or holidays and weekends can be busy. Parking is PS2.50 for the day.
