A picturesque coastal area with a long, curved promenade offering stunning views of Loch Broom and the surrounding mountains, lined with shops, cafes, and restaurants, and featuring a small harbour and a beautiful sandy beach.
Not only is Ullapool one of the biggest towns around, it is also quite charming. The seafront is nice, with green hills and mountains on the other side of Loch Broom. Together with the boats and sailboats it paints a nice picture. The area around the ferry terminal is less charming. But if you follow the seafront to the west, then you'll end up at a quiet nice seafront beach. It's a stoney beach, but nice for some views and a little walk. It's also dog-friendly. Our Bulldog enjoyed her freedom here. And there were only a handful visitors on this section. It's a nice and quiet place. Even in high season pretty relaxed. And walking along the seafront is a pleasant thing to do. A very picturesque place to see.
A lot of work taking place at the docks at the moment but still a very interesting place to walk around and look at the boats that come and go. Scenery is outstanding, whether it's the hills across the loch, the hills behind the town or looking out towards the Summer Isles. Very interesting local museum if the weather is unfavourable and one or two nice little shops to browse or have a coffee.
We stayed one night in Ullapool Caledonia hotel which was great and a lovely hotel. Had a meal at the seafood shack it great. Next day we got the ferry to Lewis for new adventure.
A very quaint and picturesque fishing village, very peaceful and very friendly locals, has everything you need.
Nice loch Broom in Ulapool with nice large area, highly recommend to come but do not forget to bring waterproof jacket
Great location, mountains, sea and the wildness of nature. Beauty whether it is from land or water.
