The Vale of Berkeley Railway is a heritage railway in Gloucestershire, England, that runs between Berkeley Road Station in Berkeley and Sharpness Station in Sharpness. The railway operates on a 6.5-mile section of the former Sharpness Branch Line, which was closed in 1964. The railway features a variety of locomotives, including steam and diesel trains, and offers scenic views of the Vale of Berkeley and the River Severn.
It is open to volunteers and there will be occasional open days for the public. It is a new organisation with great people involved.
People think that they are like say a fully developed railway they aren't they only opened 13 years ago and have a lack of funding research before you visit
Very obliging team of volunteers, they allowed me access to all areas including the coaches in the car park next door thank you for a great visit.
Real backwater...dilapidated, ramshackle, full of interest and in decline sadly..loved just walking round and talking to people there..a real throwback.. fascinating..will revisit when have more time to spend there..
I am a volunteer at the VOBR. If you want to see a heritage railway being built this is the place to go!
Very good - worth a visit plus there's a castle at Berkley also worth a visit. Enjoy.
