Archaeological site on two branches of a wadi valley with 63 tombs and burial chambers.
The Valley of the Kings is an absolute must-visit if you ever get the chance to go to Egypt, especially if you love history and art. This site is truly incredible, offering a unique opportunity to explore various tombs and marvel at their beauty and remarkable state of preservation. With your ticket you will get access to 3 tombs and you could buy tickets to others at an extra price. Each tomb is a work of art, with intricate details that deserve to be admired as much as possible. For the best experience, I recommend visiting early in the day before it gets too crowded and hot. Going with a tour guide can also enhance your visit by providing deeper insights into the history and significance of the tombs. However, be aware that locals and even some security guards may try to offer guidance or help, often expecting money in return. This is something to be cautious of, but it shouldn't deter you from visiting this amazing place. The Valley of the Kings is an unforgettable experience and a true highlight of any trip to Egypt.
Unbelievable location set in rugged mountains. Stunning burial Chambers, with equally stunning hieroglyphics. Caution. Gets incredibly hot. 55deg+ when we visited.
Of course, this is a must-see location in Egypt. Home to many of the kings of Ancient Egypt including Tutankhamun. There are several tombs which can be explored. Three of these are included in the ticket price, all Ramses. Out of the three extra optional tombs, we only visited the Tutankhamen one. Here you can see the only remaining mummy. It is well worth seeing. Note that inside the tombs there are always locals willing to give you the 'pictures beyond the rope' for a few notes (10 dollars or something is fine). Bring some small change if you want this. There is a place for a snack and drink at the top, and a small shuttle that will save the walk up the valley (40 Egyptian dollars). Tombs are quite humid! I recommend getting a guide. They're very affordable and knowledgeable, saving a lot of stress.
This was my number one place "to visit' once in Egypt and I was mesmerized by everything about it! The tombs, temple, how well it is preserved.. just impressive and breathtaking for lovers of ancient Egypti
A fascinating place surrounded by history and mystery. It gets quite crowded, so prepare for that. We booked a tour guide in advance, which i probably would recommend - but is not a must.
Valley of the kings was amazing. Very very hot. It was 45 degrees Celsius when we were here. One of the long deep tombs we visitied was very long steep steps all the way down. Be careful for elderly, unfit or children as it was very exhausting coming back up. There was actually people on the floor half way back up sitting and laying down due to the heat. These tombs are beautifully preserved and so much detail. This is a must see place to visit. Outstanding!
