Vikingar! is an award-winning leisure centre and visitor attraction located in Greenock, Inverclyde, Scotland. The complex features a range of facilities, including a 25-meter swimming pool, a fitness centre, and a soft play area for children. At first arrival I was unimpressed. The shop was not well stocked and the wares were cheap and nasty (although prices were steep). It is not a museum, so you cannot just take yourself round. You instead get a guided tour. So I was not expecting much when the tour started. I was pleasantly surprised. The guides was a lovely man who was very knowledgeable, and had an easy way of explaining things. He was a viking, and the tour starts in a replica long house. He tells you all about what life was like, then you get the chance to wander and see the artifacts from the house. Then you move through to a God room and learn about Norse gods, before getting a film about the Battle of Largs. Finally there is an information room with plaques and information you can read. The last bit is self guided. It takes about 45 mins to an hour. It was a pretty decent way to spend the time.
We had a blast here with the kids, really wonderful and immersive experience. We all learnt a lot and the had fun. The Lady that took us round was clearly passionate but made it really fun.
Great value for money, it was PS14 for two adults and a 10yo. Fascinating experience with a very interesting tour guide. He was also great at describing what we would see in the next part of the experience, which was a nice consideration for children. I wish I had got the guide's name so I could compliment him by name. He really brought the experience to life. 10yo says the best part was getting to try on the helmets and shields.
The Viking tour is only small but last about an hour, learning the history in relation to Largs. The facilities also has swimming pool I believe along with other leisure/sporting activities.
Had such an amazing time here today! I was worried the Viking Attraction was actually aimed at kids but it's great for adults too. I love history and the tour was so so interesting. Lesley was enthusiastic and welcoming which really made the experience great, she clearly knew her stuff and was an excellent story teller (also the costume was awesome - outfit goals!) The tour itself is about an hour long, included in that is a 15 minute video about the battle (again very good and interesting). Definitely worth a visit, plus decent price! PS10 for two adults. Only thing I'd say could be improved is the gift shop, there was a few bits there but mainly aimed at children and not a huge selection at all (keyrings, necklaces, pencils, cups and "viking" hats) Overall I really enjoyed the visit
Haven't actually been to see any shows in the theatre I was there collecting a piano but from what we saw the place serms like a very handy family attraction with canteen, sports center & even a swimming pool. All the staff we met were very polite & the place has a very attractive Art Deco style front to it. Would defo go if I lived there.
