Interactive science centre with climbing & robot attractions, plus temporary exhibits & demos.
My 10 year old son and I visited Belfast as he is an avid Titanic fan. The day we were flying home we had 6 hours to spare and W5 had been suggested by a taxi driver during our stay. We arrived at 10am without pressure booked tickets and got in no problem. We spent most of our time on floor 2 and 4 which had lots of interactive items fun for children of all ages and adults. Son gives it 10/10!
This place is unreal. If I lived in Belfast, I would get the annual pass; with two children under 5, it is incredible value for money (one-time entry or annual pass). Each floor has something that will cater to each age but we found the 2nd floor "story-telling" area specifically designed for younger ones to better than any soft play or pretend play we have ever been to. In this area, you can help build the 3 Little Pig's house, you can shop at a well stocked grocers'/market, you can race trains or build towers of wood, stones, sticks, you can pretend to be on Captain Hook's pirate ship, or you can read books if you want some quiet time. Aside from the 2nd floor, there is a soft play on the ground floor, a unique, mushroom-like climbing frame in the middle of the museum and a very engaging top floor (they had a mythical creatures exhibition on when we visited), where you can see how films and soundtracks are made, see optical illusions and walk with dinosaurs on screen. We loved it and will be back.
This is a great multistorey building with so much science related interesting stuff to go around. Tickets you can purchase online, toddlers below 3 go free. Keep 3 to 5 hrs to spend inside and don't miss the live shows that keep happening inside. On the ground floor, there is a kids play area as well but you need to purchase an extra ticket for that(can be shipped) . Net climbing activity is free inside anyways. If it's a tight budget trip(as tickets are not that cheap), ensure you pack home cooked food and enjoy it there.
This place gives so much fun to kids especially below 10 years old. It's close to Titanic Belfast with only 12 minutes walking distance by the dock. There were 4 floors and kids would love to stay inside for over 2-3 hours without being bored with. The knowledge and science were delivered in a very interesting way with great interaction. A Must-Go place to go.
Good experience for kids. Spend at least 5-6hours in there. Having a meal. To be honest they need to upgrade and fix their machines and tools. Need more new technology stuff. Hope they don't be that lazy. Hope they grow well. Happy days
W5-Who, What, Where, When and Why in Belfast is a must go for people of all ages especially-students and kids and parents. If you haven't been to Science Museum London but wish to but you are in Belfast, this is the place not to miss. Several themed activities all around the year. The Coffee lab is for getting rest and get some nibbles-hot and cold drinks, bakery items with nice view outside. This place also offers soft play for kids to make them tired. Parents can stay out and watch them play.
