This picturesque village green is surrounded by historic stone cottages, a medieval church, and a 17th-century coaching inn, creating a charming and tranquil atmosphere.
Lovely village with really friendly and helpful locals. We e mailed for permission to camp and got a reply in 5 minutes
We camped overnight on our Hadrian's Wall journey after getting approval from the local parish. Such a lovely little village green with a restroom and potable water.
We were pleasantly surprised with the place. We stopped there on the way to Roman fort. There are swings, picnic table, obstacle course all in good condition. Also there is a football field and toilets, very clean and tidy. We noticed a footpath to the Hadrian wall from there but haven't had a chance to try it. We'll definitely be back there may be on one of our next holidays:)
Beautiful spot amazing views and a peaceful walk, bonus is you can camp for a night for free. Just email parish Council. No showers but clean toilets.
Brilliant, friendly, and generous. Local pub served delicious food and the green is flat and free from midges. What more could a tired camper ask for?
Very well maintained public space, WC beside the playing fields very welcome and very clean, thank you
