Wallace's Well is a historic holy well located in the village of Moffat, Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. The well is believed to be the site where William Wallace, the Scottish independence leader, was baptized in 1270. The well is a natural spring that flows from a rocky outcrop and is surrounded by a stone wall. It is said to have healing properties and was a popular pilgrimage site in the Middle Ages. Today, the well is a peaceful and serene spot, surrounded by trees and a small stream, and is a place of historical significance and natural beauty.
All the years staying in Glasgow I did not know this existed. The Wallace well is an amazing site. There is no hike involved you can get parked near it. There is nothing else at it but that is not a bad thing. The story goes this was where William Wallace drank from when at robroyston. So if you enjoy history then give it a visit.
Came here thursday night was quite busy but excellent service from Callum making sure everyone was happy and okay.
Nice bit of history good place to visit if your passing ,we look at the well
Great place to visit if your looking at the wallace monument.
I was brought up near Wallace's Well which was pretty run down and neglected. It would appear from the Photographs to be much better now, which is great. Always felt both sites could have been better publicized. The name of the Road, however, is Auchinloch Road, not Auchinleck Road. Great memories cycling to the well and the Wallace's monument.
It's too bad the country is allowed greedy housing development to ruin the sacred place. However it still worth coming down and experiencing where sir William Wallace drank his last bit of water as a free man.
Good for kids
