The Wash Viewpoint is a scenic spot located in Norfolk, England, offering breathtaking views of the Wash Estuary, a 12-mile-wide (19 km) inlet of the North Sea. On a clear day, visitors can see for miles across the estuary, taking in the sights of the surrounding coastline and the picturesque villages of Snettisham and Heacham. The viewpoint is surrounded by rolling hills and farmland, adding to its natural beauty.
Ideal for dog walking. East Bank car Park was quiet on Bank holiday weekend so loads of space to get parked. Good to see a local volunteer collecting rubbish and looking after the place. The path goes on for about 10 mile and you can make out Hunstanton on the other side of the Wash among other local landmarks. Interesting history on the lighthouses also and the scenery goes on as far as the eye can see. Would definitely recommend exploring the area.
So peaceful. Lots of info on boards. Can't drive any further than the car park just before the East windmill - it's a private road. Litter bin needs emptying more regularly.
Just a lovely quiet, secluded spot to spend a few hours looking across the vast expanse of flat fenland. Not as uninteresting as it sounds. Quite a lot of history, wildlife and peacefulness to be found here from old docks, to migrating flocks, famous lighthouses to grand old farmhouses. Walks here could go on for hours, even days along tracks, sea bank and river Nene. The place has a sense of being lost in a time of a slower pace of rural life. The tide ebbs constantly, the wind can be vicious and the marshes unforgiving, but on a good day, this little spot has so much to offer with stunning views across the Wash. There is a little car park with height barrier, a picnic site with benches all surrounded by some lovely little woodland and plenty of birdlife to view. Maybe even combine this with a walk into Long Sutton, or just get lost on an adventure into nowhere and back! Who knows what you may find
