Water Break-Its-Neck is a picturesque waterfall located in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, North Yorkshire, England. The waterfall drops approximately 6 meters (20 feet) over a series of rocky ledges, creating a breathtaking spectacle. The surrounding area is lush with greenery, and the waterfall is often surrounded by a misty veil, adding to its mystical charm. The waterfall is accessible via a scenic hiking trail, offering visitors a chance to connect with nature and experience the serene beauty of the Yorkshire Dales.
Went for a walk here a couple days ago and was very disappointed by how neglected the area was. I understand that weather is uncontrollable but the level of neglect was upsetting. It used to be such a beautiful place to sit and now there's no easy path down to the falls at all. The children tried moving all the dead wood and plants that had washed into the waters pathway. On our last visit it was all fenced off as they were doing work to make it safe to visit.
There's no way to come anywhere closer to the waterfall itself as there's fence there with a sign stating that this attraction is closed already. But you can see it from the surrounding trail. Be careful - very steep slopes !
The waterfall is very close to the car park, so not a long walk. The unmade road to access the car park is a bit bumpy but not awful. The last part of the path to the waterfall is a little narrow, but manageable.
Very dry today think there's a hose pipe ban on lovely place still
Amazing place for a walk. Pathways are clear and it looks very safe.
The path to the waterfall is closed and has a fence across it. There's a sign at the entrance from the main road thats very easy to miss telling you it's closed due to Ash dieback. The path to the waterfall has been partially washed away but is still accessible by those with good balance who think it is the reason not to go up there. I definitely wouldn't visit on a windy day.
Wheelchair-accessible entrance
Good for kids
