Remains of vaults, columns & walls of an 1128 Cistercian abbey also used as a movie set.
Waverley and 24/7 Prayer have done a lot of work to upgrade all that's going on here. I hadn't been for about 5 years and booked out their Shepherd Hut for a retreat and it's awesome. I also loved the Remembering Garden walk which is super helpful if you are working through loss or grief. Really interactive. See images. Totally recommend for some solitude and silence. They also have a new cafe.
Set in beautiful parkland, the Abbey ruins are lovely. The hall has a great little cafe that opens really early on a Sunday!
Lovely place for a roll or cake & drink. Then a stroll round Abbey ruins and garden. Have a picnic if prefered. Then a stroll along river back to car park. Good place to catch up with friends.
Really lovely building, immaculate cafe, lots of nice spaces inside as well as a few seats outside. The girls serving are so friendly and nice, a real pleasure to deal with. An absolute treat.
This little hidden gem is nestled just a few minutes from Farnham high street but represents a completely different world that existed 1000 years ago! The premiise is well sign posted and there's cafe across the moat that serves cake and tea. Highly underrated and definitely worth a visit.
A beautiful place to visit. Beautiful scenery, but unfortunately, when I went, they were filming season 4 of a Netflix series called The Witcher, so I couldn't go to see the ruins of the abby.. The staff at the cafe were lovely and very friendly. I had a tuna and cucumber sandwich that was super full, not scrimping on ingredients, and I also had an iced chocolate, which was so refreshing . I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys nature . When I was leaving, I met a lady who was in charge and she said that you can stay in Shepherds hut for the day for a small fee.
Wheelchair-accessible entrance
Good for kids
