The Wedgwood Monument is a stunning Grade II listed monument dedicated to Josiah Wedgwood, the founder of the famous Wedgwood pottery company. Located in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England, this magnificent monument stands 25 feet tall and features a striking white marble statue of Wedgwood himself. The monument is adorned with intricate carvings and ornate details, showcasing the exceptional craftsmanship of the time.
Had to do it. Kept seeing it when passing on the A500/A34 to Congleton. Sat nave doesn't take you to parking but found a spot to park adjacent to a 'kissing gate' off road. The monument is not in very good order and seemed neglected. Paving stones have been stolen or removed, there was broken glass on the monument and the inscription was worn and unreadable. The views however, were fantastic, even on a cold, windy cloudy day. I'm glad we went but won't visit it again. Mow Cop nearby was much easier and better views.
Lovely stroll up to the monument. Never been before, was about a 45min walk. So peaceful, I'd love to know more about its history. I was trying to read who was born and died in February, from what I could make out from the scriptures in the stone. Definitely going again when there's nice weather, a good thinking spot.
Simply stunning. Very easy to walk to. So peaceful.
This is an underrated spot IMHO. The 360deg view from here is exceptional. And there are also some nice walks you can do in the surrounding area.
The views are stunning, was a little unsure how to get to it but found we had to walk across a field to the monument. It was very windy the day we went but the sun was out and we could see for miles. Going back on a better day.
On a route round for a good dog walk. Not much to see really of the monument which is in need of a bit of tlc. Great views of area though
Wheelchair-accessible car park
Wheelchair-accessible entrance
Good for kids
