This museum showcases a vast collection of wartime memorabilia, including military vehicles, equipment, and uniforms, as well as personal stories and artifacts from World War II. The exhibits are displayed in a series of Nissen huts, which were originally used as military barracks, adding to the immersive and atmospheric experience. Visitors can explore the daily life of soldiers, the role of women in the war effort, and the impact of the war on civilians, gaining a deeper understanding of this pivotal moment in history.
Really enjoyed my time at this museum, the museum curators have preserved a huge chunk of the local history of the airfield from during wartime. Most of the aircraft cockpits are open allowing for access to view the instruments and interiors, with some of the nose cones also being open. The staff working at the museum are incredibly friendly, and eager to share the history of the airfield and chat about the aircraft on display. Thoroughly enjoyed my time talking with the staff and looking at the exhibits.
Popped in while visiting the airfield cafe. Had a wonderful experience. Will certainly be going back again and very much enjoyed the explanation of the museum by a member of the preservation group.
Came for the first time with the family. We all loved it. Even my 13 year old daughter loved everything. Definitely will be recommending to friends and family. When my lancaster gets finished maybe you can hang it with your other models
A lovely little museum. A very knowledgeable staff member was engaging and friendly. Fascinating to be able to go down into an original control bunker. The kids very much appreciated and enjoyed being able to sit in the vampire.
Great museum, a very comprehensive collection of local & national wartime exhibits & really informative staff/volunteers. Cafe is also good and a lovely spot to watch planes take off and land. Our kids loved it but worth a visit for anyone passing through or with an interest.
Really interesting find, well managed and knowledgeable staff, worth a visit.
