Wentworth Woodhouse is a Grade I listed stately home in South Yorkshire with the longest facade of any country house in the UK and is managed by the Wentworth Woodhouse Preservation Trust (registered charity number: 1155374). The House is open to the public for guided tours and general admission around the State Rooms and 50 acres of Gardens. There is also an extensive programme of events and exhibitions as well as Afternoon Tea in the Long Gallery, Butler's Pantry Cafe and a Gift Shop.
Beautiful place, gardens are vast, good place to spend the day with family. The site holds good events with plenty of variety through the year. Plenty of history to absorb. The house is stunning kept to it's period with time taking its toll on some of the ceiling embellishments being braced by timber to keep them in place, hopefully there's a long term plan to improve that cosmetically. Well worth a visit
Gorgeous and historic - just right up my street. The place, with plenty of rooms and space, does look gigantic in and out; its size is simply jaw-dropping. We had afternoon tea in the tea room with a number of visitors on the day of the visit. The gardens were quite impressive, too. I would really like to experience it one more time and see a lot more, if possible. So far, it's the most magical place I've ever been to - the atmosphere there is unbelievable! I hope it continues to be this good
Wonderful tour of the grand house. Reg was a mine of information supported by Janet. The rooms are being brought back to their former glory and though not all there yet it was still interesting. We did the 'Black Diamonds'tour and are definitely returning in two days time to wander over the house and gardens again and lunch in the Camelia House well worth a visit.
We visited for the Great British food festival which was excellent and the surroundings of the country house made the venue perfect. The food festival had a huge number of stalls selling a variety of wares and a lot of food stalls which offered dishes from around the world.
First time coming here and loved it. We took a picnic with us and only went in the gardens (looking in thr house on thr next visit). We arrived about 11am and didn't leave till around 3pm. We enjoyed a slow walk around the gardens exploring with the kids, stopped at the cafe for a drink before doing some craft activities in the forest. At this point we were hungry so I little walk down from the craft cabin are picnic benches, this is where we stopped to have our picnic. And the way back from there we stopped off for an ice cream, which was PS2 for a rocket ice Lolly or PS3.50 for a small tub of ice cream. We sat on some benches on the main lawn and the kids went off playing with the outdoor activities they had on that day. Overall lovely day and will be returning.
Great day out, booked a guided it's well worth it, we had Julie Nice cafe although a bit pricey, nice grounds, the Camellia House looked great for a lunch treat.
