Standing 27 meters tall, the West Nene Lighthouse is a striking red and white striped tower located on the north bank of the River Nene in Northamptonshire, England. Built in 1876, the lighthouse was originally intended to guide ships into the nearby port of Wisbech, but it was decommissioned in 2013 due to the decline of commercial shipping in the area. Today, the lighthouse stands as a beloved local landmark and popular spot for walkers and photographers.
Lovely walks and views in this area. Lighthouses not open to the public.
Great place for dog walking and watching wild life.
What's not to love? Quiet walk, stunning countryside scenery Estuary into the sea Odd boats going by Odd wildlife to see including owls and maybe a seal if you walk right out. We didn't go into the lighthouses (one either side) we just went to walk the dogs. Wish people would pick up their dog sh** though, ruins what is otherwise a lovely walk. Some dog sh*te bins would probably help though
Absolutely amazing place
A much quieter version of the Peter Scott walk. I do this walk regularly with my dog and have never actually seen anyone else on this side, bonus! They do often clear the path from the parking area. I was there last month and it had been cut, it just grows back quick.
New footpath trail just opened
Wheelchair-accessible entrance
