Village station on a Victorian heritage railway line, with a restored waiting room and cream teas.
Lovely example of a pristine country station. Fabulous garden and picnic area I have wanted to revisit for some time, and it's only got better since my last visit a few years ago. Lovely cream teas available at a bargain price that I'm told are the best/worst kept secret in the area with locals popping along regularly just for the food. Friendly staff, such peaceful and tranquil surroundings, I could go on .. Keep it up volunteers of Stogumber, you have nailed it!
We had such a fantastic few hours, standing on bridge, taking photos/videos of diesel and steam train! Train station prestige and very well loved and cared for, staff very friendly and helpful. We sat on station just drinking tea/coffee soaking up the beautiful scenery.
A lovely station to visit and enjoyed the Cream tea! Steam train stopped to drop off and take on passengers at this charming stop! Up close and personal - the sound of the approaching train - the first sight of the billowing steam as it comes into view. The smell of the steam and oil. The sun glimmering on the polished surfaces. Marvelous!
Early October visit to the wonderful WSR heritage line. Return tickets to Minehead for PS27 per adult. Really friendly staff and very comfortable travel. Stogumber station is a wonderful look back to yesteryear and has the option for cream teas in the ticket office. Great picnic area along trackside. If you like the thought of steam railway travel, good place to come to. Well done to all the volunteers who run the station and the train services.
Hats off to a wonderful day of 40's nostalgia at Stogumber Station. Station Master Phil is always so welcoming for our regular visits for cream teas and cakes. Todays event was exceptional with vintage cars, motorbikes and army jeeps from the 2nd world war. There was a singer belting out 40's classics - loads of volunteers in period dress and military uniform - lots of interesting memorabilia on show from the period and a visit from Winston Churchill himself - this was topped off with two perfectly presented steam trains stopping whilst we were there - a great day and well done to all involved. Thank you all. Dave and Denise Pickering Luxborough
Beautifully preserved station, I really enjoy that the little house on the side is now a cafe, and their is plenty of seating area in the garden with great views of the railway and the locomotives coming by. Run by volunteers, very kind and they keep the station in great condition. We had coffee and a cake from the cafe and it was delicious. Shall be coming back here soon.
