Open-air living-history museum with a reconstructed 5th-7th c. village, visitor centre & cafe.
So interesting and lovely little visit. Friendly with great info. Really enjoy the live workshops etc. Will come again.
It was a very interesting and fact filled day. We enjoyed all of the displays by the viking re- enactors. Very informative museum and village. Would highly recommend.
A good few hrs here exploring the hunts and the museum. A few finds to look at along with a few well detailed signs to read. No dogs allowed but guide dogs however they was allowed in the cafe.
Great walks in wonderful countryside. The car park is very large and is pay and display. Cash or through an App. The price is very good. PS2 for 2 hours or PS3 for all day. There is a place sit and enjoy your packed lunch. The area is clean and there is plenty of different walks to enjoy. I would only say that the walks need to be better sign posted. Will go again and enjoy the sites walks. You can walk around the lake or within the heath land, plenty to do. A nice and large children's play area.
Authentic display of how the Anglo-Saxon people lived in the olden times. One of the resident caretakers overheard us discussing about how some of the people in the village actually seem to stay, sleep and live the life and explained that there were different groups of "actors" that come and "live" there to demonstrate how life was then...
Fascinating insight into life in an Anglo Saxon village and how we've attempted to find out more about buildings from this period. Activities and play area for children were great (they loved digging up artefacts in the sand), and the cafe is nice (if a little on the pricy side). Would have loved to spend a bit more time in the museum.
