Really cool place to wander around and a very accessible star fort if visiting Dover. Cool bit of napoleonic age History. This site only offers tours of the interior on specific days of the week but the exterior Can be toured AT all Times. Note its not recommended to visit at night due to sheer drops being a very serious and Real risk. If coming from east Dover attempt to enter at the car Park, not at path just past the garage as this is not a Real foot path and may lead to injury If one wants to see the inside of a star fort the owners of this location also offer visits of tilbury fort about an hour east of London. I believe this is year round and likely more accessible

Very interesting place. Such hidden gems like this, help to understand the history of a place, a region and an age, beyond what's shown in mass tourism. The buildings are bigger than what we thought. Nice hiking area. Thanks to the volunteers who maintain it and open it for public! If you want to visit, check their website to see what's open!

A huge fortress overlooking Dover with lots of trails and views. Consider heading west along the White Cliffs of Dover on your way to Folkeston.

A very hard climb to the top, but the views across Dover and beyond were spectacular.

Visited April 12, 2019: Grand and magnificent on a human scale, such a marvel to walk between the massive structures. The human activity it saw, no less its own construction, increases the scale, and the greenery all around adds to the somber but serene feeling. Personally having went there when not many people were present, it also felt like stumbling upon uncharted land as a child: it was an adventure. Right from the climb that also felt like a road less-traveled, to getting to the top and being greeted by a sign that said "Take a pew, enjoy the view," and going through closed and open spaces as if in a maze; for all its non-embellishments and and grey-ness, as was its purpose, it was a wonderful experience.
