The Westgate Water Tower is a 140-foot-tall (43 m) water tower located in Bournemouth, Dorset, England. Built in 1889, it was designed by Bournemouth's Borough Engineer, Francis James, and is a prominent local landmark. The tower's architecture is a mix of Romanesque and Gothic styles, with a square base, octagonal middle section, and a circular tank at the top. It was originally built to supply water to the town, but is now a Grade II listed building and a popular tourist attraction, offering panoramic views of the surrounding area from its top platform.
Cracking looking water tower right opposite the castle
Nice place, fantastic views, a fantastic historical element very well integrated in the city.
It was very cool to have a look at the exterior of the Water Tower designed by Sir Reginald Blomfield who also designed the usher art gallery and I also believe he may have designed Lincoln central libary.
The water tower is only open to the public on rare occasions, but the outside is quite an impressive building, and the surrounding land is good for snuffles with dogs at the front, and there's a play area for kids at the back.
This is an interesting building... if you are part of a organisation such as scouts or guides you can contact water bord for a tour. Al's there is a quite little park to the rear ideal for pic nic
Huge structure over 100 years old and designed by the builders of the Titanic.
