Historic House and gardens. Venue for events and weddings. Gardens open to public. See website for entry information
Been to this beautiful place tonight and thoroughly enjoyed it. We went with our son, daughter in law and children to celebrate my birthday. They are doing a Fun Friday, once a month through Summer. They had outside seating, with a bar, pizza truck, farm style shop and entertainment by a young lady with a beautiful singing voice. It was a truly wonderful night and strolling through the grounds was the icing on the cake. We will definitely be going back for a repeat performance and recommend others do.
Lovely gardens and woodland to explore. Picnic tables available. Small choice of drinks and snacks at admission desk. Toilets on site but would benefit from an upgrade. Worth a visit but only open on certain days in the year. Good parking and good views.
This garden was such a lovely surprise; I hadn't expected the gardens to be so extensive. In addition to beautiful flowering borders there were mature trees, woodland paths, ponds, statues and more to explore. Allow at least two hours for a good wander round; you might want a break part way through so the little outside cafe /converted horse box in the courtyard serves a welcome selection of hot and cold drinks and a few cakes, but it's only open on certain days. Entry is a PS5 charge through the honesty box, so remember to take the right change. Parking is free. Well worth a visit.
An absolutely lovely walk through the origins of Christmas with great characters and beautiful lights and scenery. Plenty of lovely food and drink stalls from mulled wine to pizza around and open fire. Aimed at the kids but excellent for the parents as well. Loved it. Give it a go!!
We visit Whatton house regularly throughout the Spring and the Summer time, it is an absolutely beautiful place to go to. There's a real charm and tranquility at Whatton House. We also visit annually for their Christmas celebrations and events, each of which are brilliantly put together and presented and are excellent sources of entertainment for the whole family. They are also great value for money. Yesterday we visited the gorgeous Christmas event they have put on this year, the atmosphere was wonderful, incredibly festive and welcoming, as always. Customer service is outstanding and all the staff at Whatton House go over and above too. The lovely Amanda actually went out of her way to fetch Baileys from her own home, so I could enjoy a cheeky Baileys and hot chocolate at the Christmas event. My partner and I cannot recommend a visit to Whatton House enough. The grounds and customer service are exemplary. We will continue to return time and time again .
Interesting place. Big grounds to walk around, quiet and peaceful. However it had a kind of genteel neglect feel about the place. I don't know if it was the time of year, or to do with the heatwave, but most flowers had gone over and there didn't seem to be any effort to have something to replace them or dead head etc. The pond had a thick layer of algae over it and in general the place didn't feel like it was being managed. We still had a nice time, and I imagine it was much more colourful a month ago, so it may have just been bad timing. The PS5 entry fee seemed about right. (Cash only)
