Serene park with a playscape, small pond & row boats for rent, plus an ice cream & coffee shop.
Currently being renovated. All the wooden play structures have been torn down and one dilapidated metal equipment remains. We visited in June and the boat house was closed, as too was the model railway. Hopefully it will be much improved by the time renovations are complete in 2025. Until then, I wouldn't bother visiting.
A lot of equipment has been ripped out as per photos. Some remains like the zipwire and the steam strain was running which rescued the day a little.
Park currently undergoing renovations. They ripped all the structures etc out in spring but renovations aren't due to start until October which was a ridiculous idea from the council as not much to use during the summer holidays. The bonus is a new toilet block was opened literally before the structures were taken away and is modern, clean and tidy. There used to be loads of ducks around to feed bit due to the lack of visitors, I think most have buggered off.
We used this as a family meet up point. The park is great for all ages but especially for kids. There is a superb play park, boating pond. My great nephew had an absolutely brilliant time in the play park and it is very well kitted out. We also rode the narrow guage train and I don't know who enjoyed it more, me or the kid! It really was superb. We had a picnic on one of the many picnic tables and also had a walk around the park. It's a bit out of way but using a sat nav in an unknown area took us straight to it. Definitely recommend.
A beautiful park that used to be full of play areas for kids, but most of the facilities - swings, slides etc have been removed and not replaced. Used to be packed with families, but no longer. Shame.
Beautiful park with swings, rides and lots of more and you can see an amazing view from the bridge!
