Eclectic local-history museum showcasing everything from fossils & taxidermy to ship models & a jet.
Great local museum. Absolutely stuffed to the brim with displays and objects, it is almost overwhelming. Some slightly questionable exhibits which could do with new interpretation, but generally a real treasure trove. Ticket allows for annual entry.
PS8 for a basic museum experience. My opinion may be slightly tainted coming from Manchester and going to MOSI for free my entire life, but PS8 feels a little steep for what is essentially low maintenance cabinets of donated items. The gift shop is also to be avoided if you value your bank balance.
Well worth the money. It's not a huge museum but it is stuffed full of exhibits covering a good range of topics. We particularly enjoyed the narwhal tusks. Staff very friendly and helpful. Fresh good quality cakes in the charming cafe.
Absolutely fabulous Youth Hostel that is possibly ranked No. 1 in the UK. The building is stunning, with its own history, very comfortable dormitories, facilities and outstanding food in the restaurant. It's literally a minutes walk from Whitby Abbey, the literary home of Count Dracula, and Whitby Tap Brewery, where the Count would spend much of his time and money if he were real Highly recommend and will stay here again
It's a 5 minute walk from the swing bridge, PS8 to get in, loads of great fossils and other local history. Stag do, hen do!!!! Before hitting the pubs, how about a bit of nostalgia? It's truly is well worth a visit. Seriously, get involved.
