Happened upon this place on the map and it was also a village fete day (August bank holiday Monday) small paying car park, free access to castle and grounds. Friendly cafe providing hot and cold food and drinks. Can even be booked as a wedding venue!
A quaint , picturesque castle ruins . Free entry to wander around the pretty grounds. A cafe is on site which makes the visit enjoyable if you wish to enjoy the surroundings with a coffee .

Beautiful back drop to the castle plus there was an enactment group there who seemed very knowledgeable and were willing to talk. Looking forward to going back 26/27 May to see a reenactment of the civil war
