This museum showcases the history and heritage of Whittlesey and the surrounding Fens area, with exhibits on archaeology, social history, and the local fenland landscape. The museum is housed in a 19th-century building and features a collection of artifacts, photographs, and interactive displays that tell the story of the region's past, including its role in the English Civil War and its significance as a major producer of fenland crops. Visitors can explore recreated Victorian streets, a 1940s-style kitchen, and a gallery dedicated to the history of Whittlesey's iconic brickmaking industry.
A delightful museum to visit with very knowledgeable guides. It's filled with so much of the social history of Whittlesey you feel you know it well even after a days visit. I would definitely recommend allowing plenty of time to look at everything, including the newspaper scrap books, time will fly while you're there.
