A secluded cove on the north coast of Devon, surrounded by towering cliffs and lush greenery, with a sandy beach and crystal-clear turquoise waters that are perfect for swimming and snorkeling.
A super place to park, right on the south west coast path. Amazing flora and fauna, with views towards Lundy Island too
There is nothing better than being able to visit Widemouth Bay! Dog friendly and swimmer friendly beach with a lifeguard on the beach. It's also ideal for surfers looking for a quieter spot to catch a wave. I just love it. The car park is very cheap and has disabled bays clearly marked. Disabled parking isn't free, but it's very reasonable.
A wonderful and emotive bay on the North Cornwall coast, littered with the surfing community and home to a wonderful beach bar and cafe (or two). What is free to take in? Maybe the beautiful two-tone, sea-polished rocks on the shore, the crashing waves against the head, a coastal path that streams to perfectly secret locations in any direction. It could be the ancient history found deep in the tectonically driven cliffs that surround the bay. However it could be the proximity to Bude, where homely goods and holiday keepsakes can be found aplenty but in a town that retains character so easily lost in other similar locations. A costal trip out to Crackington Haven provides a small community that care about their secluded and stunning bay. Home to a great little coastal pub and a myriad of homes in a maze of lanes and footpaths. Widemouth bay is made for stormy walks, sand dune safaris (on foot) it has many a second home and rental property which some may dislike but if you go for the ambiance. Widemouth Bay comes alive early morning as the Surfers take in their pursuits and the residents walk their canine friends. Should you visit? Yes but shhhh, don't tell anyone.
Here for a week's holiday good cafes
One of my favourite places to watch the sunset
