Once you've arrived with tent in tow, and freedom in mind, you know immediately you've found to the right place. A secluded, unpretentious and private place on the outskirts of a working farm. As the owner Richard puts it: "We offer proper, old-fashioned wild camping - camping as you remember enjoying when you were young!" There are no shower facilities or toilets.
Liked: You can choose where you want to be and the fact you can turn up at anytime and leave at anytime is fantastic, so no rushing around in the morning packing up. The farmer whose field it is is so friendly and helpful, even took myself and grandchildren to see the bull, cows and calfs in his fields, it was amazing and a very special touch to our camping experience, his dog is a very clever animal and amazing to see the connection they have especially with his Land Rover ha ha, you have to see it to believe it. I would highly recommend this site. Excellent value for money. Disliked: Nothing
Liked: The site had very friendly owners. They gave us the choice of pitching wherever we liked. With plenty of space to choose from. Located on top of the hill we had great views over all the surrounding fields. Clean portaloos on site also. Very nice pub 5 minute walk down the road with a great beer garden.
Me and my partner had a wonderful nights stay here. Richard and David were both really friendly and couldn't do enough for us. They took us out to meet the calves and rented us a fire pit. The views were stunning and the toilets were really clean. Will definitely be back!
Liked: Lovely site with beautiful surroundings. Host came around often checking everyone was ok. Friendly and welcoming. Disliked: Portaloos were clean on arriving but by the time we left they were disgusting as the field was busy with a lot of campers so maybe need a few more dotted around or checked more regularly but other than this was the perfect camping trip.
Liked: The location was amazing. The view was incredible and staff visited site very regularly. Also very friendly. Plenty of space for the kids to play football and rugby or other sports / activities. Would absolutely visit this site again. Disliked: Not much to be honest. Only picky things to mention (maybe just me). If there was a water tap at top of the field it would be great. Also possibly a few more toilets. First night was fine as there wasn't a lot of campers but the second night was busier and could have used a few more toilets.
Liked: Fantastic views. Loads of space. Tidy. Portaloos clean. Owner's were regularly present if you needed them. David was extremely welcoming and friendly. A fire pit/wood package was available at a cost, saved us having to source some. The relaxed check in/out policy was great, no rushing around. Kids had a brilliant time and we will definitely be back. Disliked: The only slight negative I could think off was that the Portaloos didn't appear to have a chemical in (loos I have used before had blue stuff in). That being said, there could be a reason for that, and I am only comparing to my limited experience of them in the past. I accept the very nature of portaloos is what it is, but the chemicals do mask a lot and make the flushing experience slightly better. This would not put us off coming back and the loos themselves were always clean.
